This Ordinance is substantially equivalent to the Federal Fair Housing Act, passed on April 11, 1968.Īnyone who has experienced discrimination within Saint Paul has the right to report a fair housing complaint and to have their complaint considered for investigation by our team. The Ordinance provides protection against discrimination in Saint Paul because of a person’s race, national origin, color, disability, religion, creed, sex, sexual or affectional orientation, familial status, ancestry, age, marital status, and status with regard to receiving public assistance. The Saint Paul Human Rights Ordinance, Chapter 183, prohibits discrimination. Our efforts extend to all housing and housing-related activities, regardless of whether they are funded publicly or privately. We actively take meaningful action to combat discrimination, dismantle patterns of segregation, and foster inclusive communities free from barriers that restrict access to opportunity based on protected characteristics.
